Foreign Periodicals Section maintains a carefully selected collection of periodicals in print and electronic formats.

In addition to current issues in print or electronic format, it also has a substantial collections of journals to which it no longer subscribes, but for which a back run of several years are available in print (bound) on microform or in electronic format (JSTOR) Some non-current issues which are not bound because the others are incomplete are kept in the storage area. These materials can be requested from the staff.

The print collection is classified using the Library of Congress Classification System. All periodical titles available in print are found in the library computer-based catalog (OPAC). The complete list of periodical holdings arranged alphabetically by title and by department is available at the Foreign Periodicals desk and at this URL: http://rizal.lib.admu.edu.ph .

Electronic Resources – To provide quick access to information contained in periodicals and to serve as an efficient alternative to hard copy indexes, the library subscribes to a number of databases which may or may not have full-text. For online subscriptions that need passwords, please ask assistance from the staff.

POLICIES

The Foreign Periodicals are in open stacks.

All materials in the Foreign Periodicals Section are For Room Use Only. Faculty and students, under certain conditions, may be permitted to check out foreign periodicals for a limited period, e.g., for classroom use only for the duration of the class period. To loan out foreign periodicals accomplish two slips of the Foreign Periodicals Check-Out Form . Leave one copy with the staff and the other with the guard.

Computers in the Foreign Periodicals Section are to be used to access e-journals. Students who need to use the computers, e.g., encoding data, surfing the net, should use the computers at the Computer Services Section at the ground floor of the Annex or Rms 101, 112,114,118 at the PLDT-CTC.

Damaged or mutilated journals should be brought to the attention of the Foreign Periodicals Staff, so that the necessary pages or issues may be reordered and repairs could be made.

Students who are caught vandalizing, stealing or mutilating any material in the Foreign Periodicals Section will be referred to the Director of the Library and ADSA.

As a general library policy, smoking and eating are not permitted in the Section. Use of cell phones is limited to texting and recording of data and must be in silent mode.

Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery Services

The primary goal of Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services (DDS) is to obtain materials not owned by the Rizal Library for its users.

This special services is offered to all ADMU faculty, registered students and staff. Please fill-out the Document Delivery Services (DDS) form and submit it either to the Periodicals or Reference Section. The Reference section handles all DDS.

Library Instructions

The library offers informal instructions to readers on the use of the library and its foreign periodicals resources.

Current Awareness Services

The Table of Contents of newly-arrived issued of research and scholarly periodicals in print format are sent to the different departments. This is to inform the users of the most current literature on specific fields of interest. Facult are also invited to use the Libtrary's Website to access e-journals and swetswise. Swetswise is an index to all print subscriptions of the library.
