Vision
The Pardo de Tavera Special Collections Archives shall be a research and archival facility of rare and special collection materials acquired by the library through donations by prominent Filipinos. As a research facility, it collects, organizes, services and promotes historical and cultural records to the academic community of researchers. As a archival facility, it conducts basic preservation and conservation techniques on high-heritage documents and ensures the continuing accessibility of these materials.
The Pardo de Tavera Special Collections Archives is a research facility within the library. It is one of the Special Collections Areas of the Rizal Library established to manage and maintain the different collections of national significance acquired over the years through donations.
The Pardo de Tavera room is the showcase of unique and varied collections of historical records, publications and personal papers from prominent Filipino personalities to support the instructional and research programs on Philippine history and development.
The resource facility was named in honor of Dr. Trinidad Hermenegildo Pardo de Tavera, who is the centerpiece collection of this section.
The Pardo de Tavera Special Collections Archives will institutionalize the work of archives in the preservation of all the materials to address the various issues on the long-term conservation and still assure the maximized use of the collections. Archival work in the special collections area brings an added dimension to the library's role as archives and developing facilities and new expertise in these fields.
