The Circulation Section is located at the Annex Building of the Rizal Library. It houses over 170,000 volumes of books on Humanities, Social Sciences and Pure and Applied Sciences. It exists primarily to serve the book needs of the entire community including the students and faculty members of the four schools of the Loyola Schools: School of Humanities, School of Social Sciences, School of Science and Engineering and the School of Management. It operates within a framework of regulations and guidelines to efficiently carry out the Section's objectives and functions.

Lending of books for home use remains to be its main activity. The number of books that may be borrowed and the duration of the loan depend on the classification of the user. Fine for circulation books not returned on time is P5.00/day including Sundays and Holidays. Valid ID is required in borrowing books.

 

Objectives

The Circulation Section recognizes several objectives and functions necessary in its dealings with the library clientele.

  1. To make books and library materials accessible to all readers.
  2. To effectively interpret library rules and regulations to students, faculty and other researchers with a view to efficient services.
  3. To ensure proper organization and maintenance of the reserved materials placed by faculty members in the Reserve Section.
  4. To monitor the use of required readings ( reserve ) assigned by faculty members to their students.
  5. To provide quality service to faculty, students, researchers, and other library users.
  6. To ensure proper behavior of users and maintain quiet atmosphere inside the library.
  7. To provide adequate library hours in order to meet the needs of the Ateneo academic community.
  8. To constantly review the existing policies and regulations and recommend changes whenever necessary.

To achieve these objectives the following functions are performed by the Circulation Staff.

  1. The keeping of an efficient automated charging and discharging system.
  2. The accurate handling of book loan records of faculty, students, and other patrons.
  3. Efficient handling of requests for inter/intra library loans.
  4. Systematic organization and processing of reserve materials for students' use.
  5. Shelving and shelf-reading of books for easy retrieval.
  6. Searching of missing or misplaced books.
  7. Preparing accurate statistics for ready references.

Library Hours

Monday-Friday: 7:30am - 7:30pm

Saturdays: 8:00am - 6:00pm

SEMESTRAL BREAK Monday-Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Saturdays: 8:00am - 12:00nn
