Araceli Limcaco Dans

She paints and draws from life, she says, because colors in life are different from colors in photograph.  She has been doing so since she was eight.  After finishing high school at Philippine Women's University (PWU), there was no other way to go but enroll at the College of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines.  She graduated in 1950 and went on to organize, and head (from 1950 to 1963), the Fine Arts Department of the College of Music and Arts of her alma mater, PWU.  She did the same for the Art Department of the Ateneo Graduate School inn 1963.  It was therefore as an art educator that she first entered the world of art, lecturing and teaching in schools, even in rehab centers.

She was honored at a program on 28 January 2002 hosted by the Ateneo Library of Women’s Writings (ALIWW), and Avon Cosmetics, Inc. during the 2nd Ellen Francisco Fajardo Annual Lecture in honor of Filipino women in the Visual Arts.
