The UPLB University Library Information Common (ULiCOM): Revolutionizing Library Services

MARY ANN M. INGUA is the Head Librarian at the Computer Services and Multimedia Collections Section at the University Library of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). She earned her master’s degree in Library and Information Science Degree from the School of Library and Information Science at University of the Philippines Diliman and is now pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Development Communication focusing on Science Communication, Information Science and Knowledge Management at UPLB. She is the former president of the Association of Laguna Librarians and an active member of the Philippine Librarians Association, Agriculture Librarians Association of the Philippines and other library organizations.

Abstract

This paper focuses on the renovation project of a library space at the UPLB Library designed to provide cost-effective, convenient, easy access, and high quality service to students and faculty in support of their information needs. The renovated space offers the following services: chaise lounge, reference desk, group training lab, multimedia station, student coaching services, group study rooms, library workstations, quiet study area for faculty, researchers, and students, and a mini theater.
