Abstract

In the technologically-driven field of health librarians, there is always a need to upgrade their basic skills to add-up new skills to the performance of their work. In the recent times, librarians often hear Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and Medicine 2.0. Alpi (2007) stressed that one role of health librarians is to inform, educate and empower people about their health issues. With the proliferation of Library 2.0 tools and creations, collaboration among health sciences librarians and medical and healthcare practitioners are the future that we see. At the end of the presentation, the participants will learn about the progress of the draft technical competencies prepared for the medical and health librarian in the Philippines and its importance for a national and coordinated staff development program that is geared towards the improvement of their skills and knowledge that will be relevant to the current demands of the library users and services.
